Avvai Mahalir Kuzhukalin Sangamam (AMKS) is taking care of deserted and neglected elders by providing them with food, shelter, recreation, health and counselling assistance at free of cost. AMKS is running a “Anbu” Home for Senior Citizens function in Perambalur District of Tamil Nadu. At this year, the Anbu Home for Senior Citizens taken care of 25 senior citizens.
Conducted awareness programme on elder care and reached 1352 people. The programme focused on importance of taking care of elderly in the family.
Senior citizens at Home are engaged in gardening, basket making, watching television and newspaper reading. 05 medical camps were organized in each project in coordination with local Primary Health Centre and given free treatment for common ailments. .
Individual counselling, get-together meeting, yoga and recreation activities were created peace of mind and made the senior citizens to feel at home.
